Jan. 25, 2026 (JAPAN) - Today, at “Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri”, an event held at Makuhari Messe in Japan to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball, during the opening stage, “Exclusive Announcements! GENKIDASTAGE Part 1,” it was announced that a DRAGON BALL 40th Anniversary Special Video was released simultaneously worldwide. Please look forward to Dragon Ball as it continues to reach new heights.

The DRAGON BALL 40th Anniversary Special Video is an animation meant to faithfully bring Akira Toriyama’s rich variety of expressions to the screen, combining a wide range of visual techniques, each carefully employed and blended according to the unique characteristics of his illustrations. The video is produced by Toei Animation, and directed by Naoki Miyahara, who served as General Animation Director for titles such as Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT, as well as Sequence Director for THE FIRST SLAM DUNK and Director for Pretty Cure! The Movie. The animation was completed with a strong focus on faithfully translating the textures and colors of Akira Toriyama’s illustrations into motion, resulting in dynamic visuals that express Son Goku’s growth and journey.
